Pool Renovation in Beacon Hill
This 9.5m x 4m painted concrete pool in Beacon Hill underwent a thorough resurfacing and renovation process. The project took 2.5 weeks and involved deep cleaning and prepping the surface before applying a brand new fibreglass interior. The owners, an elderly couple, communicated mainly through their son-in-law, ensuring smooth coordination and understanding throughout the process.
We focused on addressing any damaged areas on the pool’s surface. This essential part of the pool renovation ensured the structure was in perfect condition before we applied the new fibreglass interior. Rust spots were cut out and treated, ensuring that no issues would affect the longevity of the renovation. Throughout this pool renovation, we maintained regular communication with the elderly owners, mainly through their son-in-law. His assistance was key to making sure every step was understood and approved by the family.
Once the surface was prepared, we applied a primer coat and then reinforced the pool with fibreglass laminate. This critical stage of the pool renovation ensured a strong, long-lasting finish. After that, we applied a bulk resin coat, followed by a filler coat and, finally, the topcoat in the colour of the owners’ choice. To ensure safety, we also added a non-slip surface to the step treads.
By the end of this comprehensive project, the Beacon Hill pool looked brand new. The fibreglass finish not only refreshed the pool aesthetically but also provided a durable and low-maintenance surface for years to come. The pool renovation transformed this once-neglected pool into a beautiful, functional space, leaving the owners thrilled with the results.
About Project
The pool in Beacon Hill, a 9.5m x 4m concrete structure, had been neglected and accumulated significant dirt and grime over the years. Our team began by pressure washing the surface, removing debris, and preparing the pool for the necessary resurfacing work. Communication was managed primarily through the clients' son-in-law, who assisted in bridging any language gaps, ensuring the elderly owners' needs were clearly understood and met. For this project, we followed the following process:
- Drain the pool.
- Remove hydrostatic valve.
- Pressure wash and clean pool surface.
- Remove damaged/"drummy" areas to existing surfaces (up to 2sqm).
- Prepare pool surface to accommodate new fibreglass interior.
- Cut out and treat rust.
- Apply Primer Coat.
- Apply Reinforcing Material (Fibreglass Laminate).
- Apply Bulk Resin Coat over Fibreglass Laminate.
- Apply Filler Coat (undercoat).
- Apply Final Topcoat (colour of your choice).
- Apply a non-slip surface to step treads.
- Replace hydrostatic valve.
